Vision Care

When one of our medical patients in Yakima complained that her eyesight was getting worse by the day, we got her into our Optometry and Vision Services clinic in Sunnyside at 617 Scoon Road. In a matter of weeks, our optometrist and staff referred her to an ophthalmologist who began injections for macular degeneration. Now she’s watching her beloved Seahawks in full living color!

That’s what we do at Yakima Neighborhood Health Services:

Integrate all kinds of care so we treat the whole person. Your eyes are an important part of your overall health. Our optometrist and technical staff can give you a complete eye exam, order the appropriate lenses and fit you with attractive frames. We accept vision insurance but if you are uninsured, we can offer a sliding fee scale based on your income and carry a discounted balance on your account.

Optometrists are primary health care providers who examine, diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye, and related structures. They also diagnose related conditions such as a torn retina. Skilled in the management of eye health and vision care, our optometrist examines the structures of the eye to detect and diagnose:

  • Vision conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia
  • Binocular vision conditions such as convergence insufficiency, which can cause eye discomfort and difficulty reading
  • Eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal disorders
  • Systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes
