Yakima Neighborhood Health Services Job Title: Primary Care Administrator

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Five years of management level experience including at least two years experience in program management of a major clinic. MHA, MBA, or MS in health administration or business administration may be substituted for three years of management level experience.

 

Supervised by: Chief Executive Officer

 

Position(s) supervises: Office Manager, Dental Services Coordinator, Dental Clinic Manager, Medical Assistant Supervisor, Quality Improvement Coordinator, Special Projects Coordinator, Physicians, Dentists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants.

 

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a computer terminal. Some bending and stretching required. Ability to lift papers or boxes up to 30 pounds occasionally. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for use of calculators, phones, computer keyboards and other equipment. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment. Some travel required.

 

Examples of Duties (this list may not all include all the duties assigned):

  • Directs and coordinates medical, dental, business, personnel and reception departments. Includes recruitment and selection of employees in these departments.
  • Assists CEO in development of new programs and services.
  • Works with CEO and department supervisors to assure compliance with regulations governing the organization.
  • Promotes the provision of affordable, cost-effective, high quality health care services.
  • Assists in preparation and implementation of organization’s budget.
  • Interprets clinic and departmental policies, objectives and operational procedures to department supervisors. Resolves problems related to staffing, utilization of facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
  • Represents organization at public and professional meetings as requested by the CEO. Participates in organizational communication and public relations programs.
  • Coordinates, as requested, committees of the board and clinic.
  • Oversee agency contracts with federal, state, and private entities.
  • Oversee managed care contracts.
  • Receive patient complaints and compliments. Address issues as needed, and/or direct concerns to appropriate supervisor and/or administrator and/or CEO.
  • Work with other supervisors and administrative staff to address organization-wide issues, including program development, personnel policies, employee evaluations, training needs, safety concerns and quality assurance indicators. Make recommendations and/or decisions for improvement based on the impact to the organization, rather than any single department.
  • Maintain organized, clean, efficient and confidential work area.
  • Perform related work or other tasks as requested.

 

Working Relationships:

All YNHS employees are expected to develop and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all other YNHS employees, patients, visitors, health profession students, vendors, and volunteers of the organization. In addition, YNHS employees are expected to provide courteous and efficient service to health and social service agencies working with YNHS patients.

 

Salary Range:

Salary: Dependent on education and previous experience as applicable to this position.
