Yakima Neighborhood Health Services Job Title: Medical Director

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Physician with a current license in Washington State. Board Certified in a Primary Care Specialty. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Previous administrative experience or experience at YNHS where applicable skills have been demonstrated. Convenient if bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Laotian, English / Cambodian, English/Vietnamese, English/Russian, and/or ability to sign.

 

Supervised by: Chief Executive Officer

 

Position(s) supervises:

Clinical oversight of YNHS physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse midwives (organizational oversight provided by Primary Care Administrator).

 

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires prolonged walking and standing, frequent bending, stooping or stretching. May involve lifting or positioning patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Required to work under stressful conditions and with patients who are often in discomfort and/or pain. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment. May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

 

Examples of Duties (this list may not all include all the duties assigned):

ß         Provide direction in developing standards of care and quality assurance for YNHS providers.

ß         Provide leadership to YNHS Peer Review and other quality assurance activities.

ß         Provide leadership to YNHS providers, and during YNHS Provider Network meetings, including review of practice utilization, approved policies, policies / procedures in process, and policies in need of development.

ß         Evaluate potential candidates for YNHS clinical positions, to include physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

ß         Provide written clinical evaluations for physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

ß         Work with administrative staff to develop and implement organizational policies related to patient care management.

ß         Work with administrative staff to develop contractual arrangements for services provided at and outside the YNHS facility.

ß         Work with administrative staff to identify providers, services and medical equipment to expand needed services at YNHS.

  • Represent YNHS at Yakima County Medical Society, hospital department meetings, and select conferences as mutually agreed by both parties.
  • Assist with development of departmental policies and procedures
  • Receive patient complaints and compliments. Address issues as needed, and/or direct concerns to appropriate supervisor and/or administrator.
  • Work with other supervisors and administrative staff to address organization-wide issues, including program development, personnel policies, employee evaluations, training needs, safety concerns and quality assurance indicators. Make recommendations and/or decisions for improvement based on the impact to the organization, rather than any single department.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and peer review as requested.
  • Maintain organized, clean, efficient and confidential work area.
  • Represent YNHS in local meetings as requested.
  • Perform related work or other tasks as requested.

 

 

Working Relationships:

All YNHS employees are expected to develop and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all other YNHS employees, patients, visitors, health profession students, vendors, and volunteers of the organization. In addition, YNHS employees are expected to provide courteous and efficient service to health and social service agencies working with YNHS patients.

 

Salary Range:

Salary: Dependent on education and previous experience as applicable to this position.
