Yakima Neighborhood Health Services Job Title: Dental Director

Minimum Qualifications:

DMD or DDS licensed to practice in the State of Washington. Management experience or previous work experience at YNHS where applicable skills have been demonstrated. Convenient if bilingual in English/Spanish, English/Laotian, English / Cambodian, English/Vietnamese, English/Russian, and/or ability to sign.

Supervised by: Primary Care Administrator

Position(s) supervises:

Clinical oversight of YNHS dentists, (organizational oversight provided by Primary Care Administrator).

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires prolonged walking and standing, frequent bending, stooping or stretching. May involve lifting or positioning patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Required to work under stressful conditions and with patients who are often in discomfort and/or pain. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment. May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

Examples of Duties (this list may not all include all the duties assigned):

  • Provide direction in developing standards of care and quality assurance for YNHS providers.
  • Provide leadership to YNHS Peer Review and other quality assurance activities.
  • Provide leadership to YNHS dentists, and during YNHS Provider Network meetings, including review of practice utilization, approved policies, policies / procedures in process, and policies in need of development.
  • Evaluate potential candidates for YNHS dentists and dental hygienist clinical positions.
  • Provide written clinical evaluations for dentists and dental hygienists.
  • Represent YNHS in local meetings as requested.

Practicing Dentist responsibilities:

  • Provide preventive and restorative dental care to patients of all ages, with special focus on prevention services for pregnant women and young children.
  • Work with other clinic dentists and dental hygienists to maximize patient flow and treatment opportunities for YNHS patients.
  • Participate in public health dentistry efforts in the community.
  • Work with local private dentists to facility smooth referral patterns for YNHS patients.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other quality assurance efforts as requested.
  • Work with YNHS public health staff and primary medical care staff to integrate dental services and oral health education opportunities.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and peer review as requested.
  • Maintain organized, clean, efficient and confidential work area.

 

Working Relationships:

All YNHS employees are expected to develop and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all other YNHS employees, patients, visitors, health profession students, vendors, and volunteers of the organization. In addition, YNHS employees are expected to provide courteous and efficient service to health and social service agencies working with YNHS patients.

Salary Range:

Salary: Dependent on education and previous experience as applicable to this position.
