Yakima Neighborhood Health Services Job Title:  Controller

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education for this position requires a bachelorŐs degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.  Four years experience in oversight in comprehensive, electronic accounting systems, including payroll, accounts payable, revenue, month end journal entries and creation of financial and management reports required with at least one year of experience in a supervisory role. 

 

Supervised by: Primary Care Administrator/Chief Financial Officer

 

Position Supervises:  Accounting and benefits administration personnel, including AP Clerks, Payroll Clerks, Finance Assistants.  

 

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a computer terminal. Some bending and stretching required. Ability to lift papers or boxes up to 30 pounds occasionally. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for use of calculators, phones, computer keyboards and other equipment. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment. Some travel required.

 

Examples of Duties (this may not include all the duties assigned):

  •  Assists CEO, Primary Care Administrator and CFO in development and implementation of business strategies

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, and documenting business transactions.

  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and net assets, and prepares balance sheet, statement of revenue and expenses, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.

  • Review accuracy of documentation and provides oversight and leadership of payroll and accounts payable processes.

  • Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures, including billing systems.

  • Devises and implements systems for general accounting functions.

  • Supervises billing, payroll and accounts payable staff and related functions.

  • Acts as the technical lead on the billing component of the practice management software.

  • Works with billing staff to identify and resolve billing problems.

  • Provides oversight to billing department, maintaining current and timely patient accounts, revenues, adjustments, collections, electronic and paper claims submittals and patient statements. 

  • Works with and in support of staff to complete annual federal and state compliance reports.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or as needed.

Salary Range:

Salary: Dependent on education and previous experience as applicable to this position.
