Title: Accounting Assistant Minimum Qualifications: Education
and or experience in bookkeeping, preferably with non-profit fund accounting.
Experience with computers. Understanding of basic accounting principles. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and
punctuation. Skills in data-entry. Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly
by alphabetical or numeric systems. Supervised by: Controller Position(s) supervises: None Typical Physical Demands and Working
Conditions: Requires
sitting for long periods of time, working at a computer terminal. Some bending
and stretching required. Ability to lift papers or boxes up to 30 pounds
occasionally. Requires corrected vision
and hearing to normal range. Manual
dexterity and eye-hand coordination
required for use of calculators, phones, computer keyboards and other
equipment. Requires ability to sustain
concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment. Examples of Duties (this list may not all
include all the duties assigned): ß
Accounting,
including accounts payable, purchase orders, and supporting journals. ß
Assure
organized and efficient record keeping of all financial activity. ß
Sorts,
codes, alphabetizes, verifies bills, charge slips, receipts. ß
Monitor
and distribute supplies to departments. ß
Maintains
required records, reports, and files. ß
Maintain
and monitor accrual of employee leave time.
Work with department supervisors to identify employees with under-used
or over-used leave hours. ß
Purchase
order control and reconciliation.
Assist with development of inventory system for supplies. Perform
cost-comparisons of account vendors. ß
Assist
program auditors in record retrieval and systems review as requested. ß
Assist in data-entry and billing processes
for Accounts Payables and non-patient Receivables.
Working Relationships: All
