Yakima Neighborhood Health Services Job Title: Accounting Assistant

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and or experience in bookkeeping, preferably with non-profit fund accounting. Experience with computers. Understanding of basic accounting principles. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Skills in data-entry. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a computer terminal. Some bending and stretching required. Ability to lift papers or boxes up to 30 pounds occasionally. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required for use of calculators, phones, computer keyboards and other equipment. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast-paced environment.

 

Examples of Duties (this list may not all include all the duties assigned):

ß         Accounting, including accounts payable, purchase orders, and supporting journals.

ß         Assure organized and efficient record keeping of all financial activity.

ß         Sorts, codes, alphabetizes, verifies bills, charge slips, receipts.

ß         Monitor and distribute supplies to departments.

ß         Maintains required records, reports, and files.

ß         Maintain and monitor accrual of employee leave time. Work with department supervisors to identify employees with under-used or over-used leave hours.

ß         Purchase order control and reconciliation. Assist with development of inventory system for supplies. Perform cost-comparisons of account vendors.

ß         Assist program auditors in record retrieval and systems review as requested.

ß         Assist in data-entry and billing processes for Accounts Payables and non-patient Receivables.

  • Participation in staff meetings as directed.
  • Perform related work and other tasks as requested.
